Earnings Roundup: APOL, LEN, MKC


Apollo Group Inc. (NASDAQ: APOL) reported Tuesday that it swung to a fiscal second-quarter loss of $64 million, or 45 cents a share, from a profit of $92.6 million, or 60 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter. On an adjusted basis, the company earned 83 cents a share in the latest quarter. Revenue dropped to $1.05 billion from $1.07 billion.  Analysts, on average, expected the company to report earnings of $0.68 per share on revenue of $1.03 billion. In the year ago quarter, the company reported earnings of $0.84 per share on revenue of $1.07 billion.

Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN)  said Tuesday that it swung to a fiscal first-quarter profit of $27.4 million, or 14 cents a share, from a loss of $6.5 million, or 4 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue slipped 2.9% to $558 million. Analysts, on average, expected the company to report a loss of 5 cents per share on revenue of $508.23 million. 

McCormick & Co Inc. (NYSE: MKC) reported Tuesday that its first-quarter profit climbed to $76.8 million, or 57 cents a share, from $67.9 million, or 51 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter. Revenue grew to $782.8 million from $764.5 million. Analysts, on average, had expected the company to report earnings of 54 cents a share on revenue of $803.9 million.
