US Hot Stocks: LVS, VRGY, QCOM, AMRN, CHTP


Below we highlight few companies whose shares are actively trading in Friday's session.

Shares of Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) slumped more than 2% after a newspaper reported a judge in Nevada refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed by former chief executive officer of Sands China Ltd., Asia’s second- biggest casino company by market value.

Verigy, Ltd. (NASDAQ: VRGY) surged more than 10% after tha company announced that the U.S. Department of Justice closed its investigation related to the semiconductor testing company's acquisition by Japan's Advantest Corp. In March, Advantest Corp, the world's No. 2 maker of chip-testing equipment, said it had agreed to acquire U.S.-listed Verigy for about 90.9 billion yen ($1.1 billion) to bolster its position in testers for chips used in smartphones and other mobile devices.

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) dropped as much as 2% after the company announced that it has agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of Rapid Bridge LLC, a San Diego-based inventor of advanced techniques for the design and development of semiconductor products.  

Amarin Corporation plc (NASDAQ: AMRN) slid more than 8% after Chief Executive Officer Joe Zakrzewski  said that the biotechnology company may not reach a deal with a partner until 2012.

Chelsea Therapeutics International Ltd.  (NASDAQ: CHTP) soared more than 14% after the biotechnology firm reported positive data from a trial of its treatment for a specific form of hypotension.
