Shares of Clearwire Corporation (NASDAQ: CLWR) rallied more than 3% on Tuesday on speculation that the company could be a takeover candidate. Clearwire's 4G network currently provides coverage in areas of the U.S. where 120 million people live. The company markets its 4G service through its own brand called CLEAR(R) as well as through its wholesale relationships with Sprint, Comcast and Time Warner Cable. Strategic investors include Intel Capital, Comcast, Sprint, Google, Time Warner Cable, and Bright House Networks. The wireless network provider is 54 percent owned by Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE: S).
