Advanced Battery Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ABAT) soared more than 21% after the maker of rechargeable batteries responded to the 14 allegations in a March 30 report published by Variant View Research and said the article “consisted of nothing more than innuendo and distortions.”
Netlist, Inc. (NASDAQ: NLST) jumped more than 13% after the company announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has recently issued to Netlist U.S. Patent No. 7,864,627 entitled "Memory Module Decoder," U.S. Patent No 7,881,150 entitled "Circuit Providing Load Isolation and Memory Domain Translation for Memory Module," and U.S. Patent No 7,916,574, a continuation of the '150.
Smithfield Foods Inc. (NYSE: SFD) slumped more than 3% on reports that the company is in talks to buy a controlling interest of the European packaged meats company Campofrio Food Group SA for 9.5 euros ($13.62) per share. Smithfield, a pork processor and hog producer, and Campofrio Chairman Pedro Ballve are considering takeover bid for an approximately 50 percent stake of Campofrio. Smithfield currently owns 37 percent of the business.
Curis Inc. (NASDAQ: CRIS) soared more than 8% after the drugmaker said that preclinical data of three drug development candidates showed its platform can generate a range of differentiable small molecule inhibitors for cancer.
